Phlebotomist - Laboratory
Responsibilities
The Phlebotomist position is responsible for obtaining and preparing specimens for analysis and performs various screening tests. Must be able to properly identify the patients and label samples per laboratory policy. Must be able to occasionally complete registration of patients.
We are willing to provide On-the-Job Training for the right candidate.
Job duties include but not limited to:
Obtains blood specimens by performing venipunctures and finger sticks. Collect throat cultures, and other samples.
Properly identify the patients and label their samples per laboratory policy.
Must be able to occasionally complete registration of patients.
Correctly perform data entry of patient information, tests ordered and diagnosis in the laboratory portion of the Electronic Medical Record and the reference laboratory computer.
Follow the facility policy and procedure for medical necessity of test ordering and related paperwork such as ABN.
Perform certain waived test as agreed upon by the laboratory staff.
Answers the phone and satisfy callers questions or routes calls to another laboratory staff.
Perform duties on the phlebotomy check list such as procedure controls and temperature checks.
Work with several computer programs for test ordering and test resulting requiring strong computer skills.
Assist the testing personnel in preventative maintenance and other non-testing duties.
Follow the facility policy for confidentiality, and compliance.
Satisfactory time and attendance
Assist other departments as needed and other duties as assigned.
